Learn the Art of the Blacksmiths

People often talk about making something tangible. So how about learning what it takes to be a blacksmith? In Rüdiger Schwenk’s blacksmith’s workshop in Aarbergen-Kettenbach you’ll learn all the basics in half a day and try your hand at making something. Anyone who is good with their hands should manage by then to forge their own small artwork to take back with them, to the home or office.

On the full-day course, participants work with steel in the morning and then, when everyone has gained a little experience, with higher-grade tooling steel in the afternoon. Under the careful eye of the trained engineer and art smith, some participants even manage to forge a rose to take home for a loved one.

Gloves and aprons will be provided. You’ll need to wear cotton clothes and have sturdy boots. Half-day courses run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., full-day courses end at 6 p.m.
