Limes Cookery School
In the Limes Cookery School Ancient Roman history teams up with modern culinary techniques. Limes, the famous World Cultural Heritage Site, is the name of the former wall protecting the borders of the Roman Empire – and it runs right past the Hofgut Georgenthal estate. Our kitchen experts love the region’s ancient history and culture, and this is reflected in their preference for local produce. Take part in the Limes Cookery School and find out what the Ancient Romans loved to serve – and learn a bit about the history of this ancient region into the bargain. The Romans considered pork cheeks a real delicacy, for example. Served possibly with Legionnaire’s bread, tender vegetables, strong herbs and vegetable stock – and washed down with a glass of good red. All served ceremoniously for cena, Latin for the main meal of the day. The Limes Cookery School is an experience to be shared, where you learn something extra at the same time, and not just about cooking.
